Outdoor Guiding

“Luke served as both a tour guide and a trail guide for our environmental group and truly was the reason people kept coming back. His deep knowledge of history combined with his personality makes him impossible not to love (and impossible not to learn a LOT from.)” -Alina Voss, Strategic Communications Manager, American Conservation Coalition

To inquire about scheduling and rates for a customized outdoor adventure in Northern Virginia or another locale for your organization or group, please contact me at lukenathanphillips2012@gmail.com.

I plan and lead outdoor adventures for leadership development and teambuilding, mostly day hikes, for young professional groups and civic groups, in the area between Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland, and especially along the Blue Ridge and other nearby mountains. I can organize adventures in other areas upon request. People of all levels of outdoor experience and ability are welcome.

On these, I teach participants about the natural history and human history of the landscapes and environments we pass through, and guide them through discussions about the ethos of conservation and stewardship, in the outdoors and as applied to life in general. Every excursion is designed with the needs and interests of the group in mind.

I have been a trail guide in hiking clubs around D.C., and camp staff at Philmont Scout Ranch for several summers. I am CPR and Wilderness First Aid certified.
